How much does a paver patio cost in Coquitlam?
What actually drives the price, from the Coquitlam crew that builds this work. Updated October 2026.

Short answer: A patio's price depends on its size, the paver or slab you choose, how much has to come out first, the shape, and extras like steps, seat walls and drainage. The part you don't see, a deep compacted gravel base, is what makes a patio last, and it's the part we spend the most time on. We give a written price for the agreed scope after a free site visit.
Your options compared
| Patio type | Look and feel | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Standard concrete pavers | Many colours and patterns | The most popular choice. Easy to lift and repair a section. |
| Large-format slabs | Clean, modern look | Needs a very flat, well-compacted base. |
| Natural stone | Flagstone or cut stone | Higher material and labour, unique look. |
| Permeable pavers | Similar to standard pavers | Lets rain soak through. Deeper base; helps on wet lots. |

What changes the price
Base depth
Every patio we build sits on a deep, compacted gravel base sloped away from the house. Skimping here is why cheap patios sink and heave.
Removal
Breaking out an old concrete patio or lawn and hauling it away is often part of the job.
Shape and cuts
Curves, borders and patterns mean more cutting and labour than a simple rectangle.
Extras
Steps, seat walls, planter walls, lighting and drainage are added to the scope.
Access
Backyards without machine access take longer to excavate and supply.

They transformed my backyard into a stunning modern oasis with new grass, a beautiful patio, and a retaining wall with built in planters that exceeded my expectations. Common questions
Pavers or concrete for a patio?
Poured concrete is often less up front. Pavers handle settling and freeze-thaw better, and a damaged section can be lifted and replaced instead of cutting out concrete.
How long does a paver patio last?
With a proper base and edge restraint, a paver patio lasts 25 years or more. Joint sand needs topping up every few years.
Do I need a permit for a patio?
A ground-level patio usually doesn't need a building permit. Covered patios, raised structures and work affecting drainage may. We'll confirm at the site visit.
Can you combine a patio with other work?
Yes. We often build patios together with retaining walls, turf, drainage, a deck or a patio cover in one project, which saves on mobilization and excavation.
Why won't you give a price over the phone?
Because base depth, removal, access and the exact layout decide the price. After a free site visit you get a written estimate with the size, materials, base and extras listed.
